Chapter 6

Kencules as he looked at the sunset: And a voice keeps sayin' this

is where I'm meant to be

+Near Takato and Henry's cottage, moonrise+

As Kencules got closer to his home, the young demigod looked up at the sky and began to sing once more.

Kencules as he walked over to a large tree: I will find my way

I can go the distance

Kencules as he climbed the tree: I'll be there someday

If I can be strong

Kencules as he climbed onto a tree branch: I know every mile

Will be worth my while

Kencules as a shooting star flew across the sky: I will go most anywhere

to feel like I

Belong

As the stars shined in the night sky, Kencules climbed down the tree and then sadly walked down a grassy path until he arrived at a small cottage where he found a worried Henry and Takato waiting for him in the cottage's doorway.

+Doorway, Takato and Henry's cottage+

"Kencules, there's something your mother and I have been meaning to, to tell ya." Takato told his son causing Kencules to walk over to his adoptive parents who then led him into the cottage and then told him the truth.

+living room, Takato and Henry's cottage+

"But if you found me, then where did I come from?" Kencules curiously asked his adoptive parents after he sat down on a bench next to Henry who was holding a folded cloth. "Why was I left here?" Kencules curiously asked Takato who was standing by a fireplace and Henry as the bluenette unwrapped the cloth and then picked up the pendent that was wrapped around Kencules's neck when he was a baby.

"This...was around your neck when we found you." Henry sadly told his son as he handed Kencules the pendent as Takato walked over to his husband and then placed his hand on Henry's shoulder while Kencules looked at the pendent.

"It's the symbol of the gods." Henry then told his son as Kencules softly touched the pendent and then happily stood up.

"This is it! Don't you see? Maybe they have the answers!" Kencules happily told Takato and Henry as he continued to look at the pendent.

"I'll go to the temple of Johnny Blaze and--" Kencules happily told his adoptive parents before he walked over to Takato who was smiling happily at his son as he held a smiling Henry.

"Ma, Pop, you're the greatest parents anyone could have, but...I-I gotta know." Kencules softly told his parents as gently touched one of  his Ma's hands and then gently touched his Pop's shoulder before he looked out a nearby window.

+In front of Takato and Henry's cottage, the next day+

The next morning as the sun began to rise, Takato and Henry smiled at their adoptive son who was wearing the pendent around his neck just as a rooster's crow filled. Henry then placed a shall around his adoptive son's shoulders causing Kencules to smile as he hugged his adoptive parents and then walked over to a large tree where he then turned around and waved goodbye to Takato and a weeping Henry before he began to sing as he walked farther and farther away from the cottage.

Kencules as he walked on a mountain slope that led by a flower valley: I am on my way

I can go the distance

Kencules as he walked passed a flower valley and into a forest: I don't care how far

Kencules as he knocked over a tree causing it to fall over a chasm: Somehow, I'll be strong

Kencules as he walked across the fallen tree: I know every mile

Kencules as he climbed up another mountain as it began to rain: Will be worth my while

+In front of the temple, as the stars shined in the sky+

Kencules as he walked up a medium hill: I would go most anywhere

To find where I belong

+Temple of Johnny Blaze+

Wonder and awe filled his eyes as Kencules walked over to a large statue of Johnny Blaze sitting ontop of a large throne.

Hoping that the King of Gods could answer is questions, Kencules looked at his pendent once more, got down onto his knees and then looked down as he folded his hands.

"Oh, mighty Johnny Blaze, please, hear me and answer my prayer. I need to know: Who am I? Wh-Where do I belong?" Kencules worringly asked the statue before the wind began to blow around him causing Kencules to look around in fright just as lightning struck the statue causing fire to appear in the torches near the statue as Kencules curled up in a ball.

"Huh?" Kencules asked curiously as he looked up just in time to see the statue open his eyes as Johnny Blaze possessed his statue and then smiled at his now scared son.

"My boy. My little Kencules." Johnny Blaze proudly told his son as he reached toward his son causing Kencules to scream in fight as he ran away from the possessed statue and ran right into a large candle holder.

"Hey, hey, hey. Hold on, kiddo!" Johnny Blaze happily told his son as he gently grabbed Kencules who tried to escape. "What's your hurry? After all these years, is this the kind of hello you give your father?" Johnny Blaze asked his son as he trapped his son between his hands causing Kencules to poke his head out between two of Johnny Blaze's fingers.

"F-Father?" Kencules asked Johnny Blaze in shock as his father sat up. "Didn't know you had a famous father, did you?" Johnny Blaze curiously asked his son as he uncupped his heads and then held his son with one hand.

"Surprise!" Johnny Blaze happily yelled at his son causing Kencules to cough as his father held him up higher so that the King of the Gods could get a better look at his son.

"Look how much you've grown. Why, you've got your mother's beautiful eyes and my strong chin. Hah!" Johnny Blaze proudly told his son causing Kencules to look curiously at his father. "I-I don't understand. If you're my father, that would make me a--" Kencules began to ask his father before Johnny Blaze interupted him. "A god." Johnny Blaze seriously told his son. "A god. A god!" Kencules told his father in shock as he sat down and looked at his father in pure shock.

"Hey, you wanted answers, and by thunder, you're old enough now to know the truth." Johnny Blaze told his shocked son. "But why did you leave me on Jupiter? Didn't you want me?" Kencules worringly asked his father. "Of course we did. Your mother and I loved you with all our hearts." Johnny Blaze sadly told his son. "But, someone stole you from us and turned your mortal, and only gods can live on Io." Johnny Blaze told his son causing Kencules to look down sadly. "And you can't do a thing?" Kencules sadly asked his father. "I can't, Kencules, but you can." Johnny Blaze happily told his son. "R-Really? W-What? I'll do anything." Kencules excitedly told his father.
