Chapter 6

"Hey, he was in trouble. Ah, he was worth it." Peter told his friend and then sighed causing Agu to smile as he knew that Peter was starting to fall in love with the prince. "Yeah, yeah, yeah." Agu sighed as he took one of his lockpicks and began to pick the lock on the iron bar. "Don't worry, Agu. I'll never see him again. I'm a street rat, remember? And there's a law. He's gotta marry a prince." Peter told Agu just as Agu freed him. "He deserves a prince." Peter told Agu as the little monkey jumped off of the iron bar that he had been standing on and then landed in front of a depressed Peter. "I'm a fool." Peter sadly told Agu as he put his arms down and then sat down.

"You're only a fool if you give up, boy." an old man who was hiding in the shadows told Peter and Agu causing them to turn and look at him. "Who are you?" Peter asked the old man. "A lowly prisoner, like yourself. But together, perhaps we can be more." the old man told Peter as he hobbled over to Peter. "I'm listening." Peter told the old man. "There is a cave, boy, a Batcave of Wonders, filled with treasures beyond your wildest dreams." the old man then told Peter as he reached into his ratted old clock and pulled out three topaz crystals causing Peter and Agu to look at him happily knowing that if they had that kind of treasure then they and the poor of Gotham could be fed for months and they wouldn't have to steal anymore.

"Treasure enough to impress even your prince, I'd wager." the old man then told Peter as he put the Topax crystals back into his cloak and then hobbled away from Peter and back into the shadows just as sweaty Biyomon poked his head out from inside the cloak. "Mike, can you hurry up? I'm dyin' in here." Biyomon whispered to the old man who was really Mike in disguise.

"But the law says only a prince can.." Peter began to explain as Mike hit Biyomon causing the parrot to return to his hiding place as Mike hobbled over to Peter. "You've heard of the golden rule, haven't you? Whoever has the gold makes the rules." Mike told Peter as he grinned revealing a bunch of crooked teeth and one gold crooked tooth.  "Why would you share all of this wonderful treasure with me?" Peter asked as he stood up knowing that there had to be a catch.

"I need a young pair of legs and a strong back to go in after it." Mike told Peter as they began to walk away from the iron bar. "Uh, one problem. It's out there. We're in here." Peter told Mike who he believed was crazy as the excited Mike hobbled over to the brickwall. "Uh-uh. Things aren't always what they seem." Mike told Peter as he pressed his cane on some bricks causing them to move revealing a hidden passage way.

"So, do we have a deal?" Mike asked Peter as he walked over to the wizard in disguize. "Oh, I don't know about this." a nervous Agu told Peter who grinned.

A few hours later as thunder crashed in the sky and the wind blew through the air causing the sand to blow during the dark night, Peter led a black horse through the storm as Mike rode on the horse's back through the desert.

Once they were deep in the desert, Mike used the  silver bat pendent to rise the Batcave of Wonders. "Who disturbs my slumber?" the Batcave of Wonders squeaked. "Uh, it is I, Peter." Peter nervously told the Batcave of Wonders. "Proceed. Touch nothing but the lamp." The Batcave of Wonders warned Peter before it opened it's mouth revealing a golden light. "Remember, boy, first fetch me the lamp, and then you shall have your reward." Mike told Peter.

"Come on, Agu." Peter whispered to the little monkey that was hiding in his vest as he walked into the cave and down a long staircase that led him to a large room. "Would you look at that!" Peter told Agu in shock as he was amazed by all of the gold in the room.
There were gold piles of golden trinkets, large golden statures and more. "Just a handful of this stuff would make me richer than the Sultanna." Peter told Agu who couldn't believe his eyes as he hopped out of Peter's vest and then ran to a large chest that sat next to a carpet. "Agu! Don't... touch... anything. We gotta find that lamp." Peter told the monkey who sighed knowing that Peter was right and then began to follow him to another section of the cave just as the carpet floated into the air and then began to follow them while making sure they didn't notice him.

But Agu noticed that there was something weird about the carpet causing him to run straight to Peter. "Peter!" Agu yelled in fright as he tugged on Peter's pant's leg. "Agu, will you knock it off?" Peter told the little monkey as he began to walk through the cave once more as Carpet flew over to Agu and then tapped him on the shoulder causing him to turn around as Carpet moved behind him and then tugged on his tail causing Agu to turn around once more as Carpet floated into the air and then took Agu's fezz causing him to think as Carpet put on the fezz and then waved one of his tassles at Agu causing him to screech in shock as he ran over to Peter while Carpet hid. "Agu, what are you, crazy?" Peter asked the scared monkey who had was now jumping on Peter's back and then pulled his hair causing Peter to finally notice a shy Carpet. "A magic carpet." Peter gasped in shock.

"Come on. Come on out. We're not going to hurt you." Peter calmly and softly told Carpet who came out of his hiding place, waddled over to Agu's fezz, picked it up, dusted it off and then flew it over to a scared Agu who hid behind Peter. "Hey, take it easy, Agu. He's not gonna bite." Peter told the scared monkey as Carpet handed Agu's fezz to Peter. "Thanks." Peter told Carpet as he gave the fezz back to Agu who glared at Carpet causing the carpet to look down sadly and then walk away from them.

"Wait a minute. Don't go. Maybe you can help us." Peter told Carpet who flew over to them and then flew around them. "Hey! Whoa!" laughed Peter as Carpet then floated in front of them. "You seem we're trying to find this lamp." Peter explained to Carpet who waved his tassle at them and then began to fly away causing Peter to follow him. "I think he knows where it is." Peter excitingly told Agu who nodded. "Appairently." Agu excitedly told Peter as they followed Carpet out of the treasure room and into a large cave like room that had rocks everywhere.

Finally Carpet led them into a darken room that had a beautiful lake with a large tall mountain in the middle of it with stepping stones that went from the shore to the mountian and finally ontop of the mountain was the silver lamp that was glowing in the darken room.

"Wait here." Peter whispered to Agu who he had placed on the ground, and Carpet as he jumped onto the stepping stones but as Agu waited for his friend to return, he looked around and noticed a huge blue sapphire that was sitting on a monkey statue.

Compelled by the sapphire's glowing light, Agu licked his lips as Peter jumped from stepping stone to stepping stone until he arrived at the large mountain. Peter then began to slowly climb to the top.

Meanwhile Carpet was nervous for his new friend when he noticed that Agu was under the sapphire's spell and began to freak out knowing that if Agu touched the gem then they would be trapped in the cave forever.

Unknown to what was happening to Agu, Peter finally made it to the top of the mountain, then slowly snuck toward the silver lamp and then picked it up. "This is it? This is what we came all the way down here to.." Peter asked as he turned his head just in time to see Agu run straight to the sapphire. "Agu! No!" Peter yelled in fright as Agu grabbed the sapphire.

"Infidels! You have touched the forbidden treasure. Now you will never again see the light of day!" the Batcave of Wonders angerly squeaked as the cave began to rumble as all of the gold and the sapphire turned to lava while the top of the mountain began to spurt out lava causing Peter to run down the steps that soon turned into a slide causing him to slide down the path and almost land in the lava until Carpet rescued him.

Hanging onto Carpet for dear life, Peter flew through the cave, rescued Agu and then rode Carpet through the cave as a lava tidelwave followed them. "Carpet, let's move." Peter told his new friend causing Carpet to fly faster and faster out of the room and through the cave like room and finally into another room where Agu clung to Peter's head. "Agu! Agu, this is no time to panic." Peter worringly told his friend as he tried to get the little monkey off of his head and then gasped in shock as Peter and Agu noticed that they were about to his a solid wall. "Start panicking." Peter frightfully told Agu as Carpet dived down and then twirled into the air as they flew into the gold room and tried to fly to the exit.

Meanwhile outside of the Batcave of Wonders, thunder crackled and lightning flashed as the cave began to fall into it's self.

Back in the cave, Peter was almost at the cave when a large boulder fell from the ceiling and landed on Carpet causing him to fall causing Peter to jump onto the Cave's opening.

"Help me out." Peter begged Mike as he reached out his hand. "Throw me the lamp." Mike yelled at Peter. "I can't hold on. Give me your hand." Peter yelled as he began to lose his grip. "First give me the lamp." Mike yelled as he held out his hand for the lamp causing Peter to hold it out for him causing Mike to grab the lamp and then begin to start cackling.

"Yes! At last!" Mike yelled happily as he put the lamp into his robe just as Agu tried to help his friend out of the cave causing Mike to kick Agu away and then grab Peter's arm. "What are you doing?" Peter asked the old man in shock. "Giving you your reward. Your eternal reward." Mike told Peter as he took out a dagger and was about to stab Peter until Agu stole the lamp and then bit Mike's arm causing him to scream in pain as he let Peter go causing Peter to fall into the cave as Mike threw Agu into the cave as well.
However before Peter and Agu could land onto the tough ground, Carpet freed himself, flew into the air and caught Agu and the now unconcious Peter just as the Batcave of Wonders turned it's self back into sand leaving Mike standing in the now quiet desert.

Mike then chuckled to himself thinking that he finally had the lamp. "It's mine. It's all mine. I... where is it?" Mike happily told himself as he took off his disguise and then reached into his robe only to find that the lamp was missing. "No. No!" Mike told himself and then yelled knowing that the lamp was gone forever.
